He wanted to tell his children about their Norwegian heritage

Not only does William E. Trimingham know a lot about his own family background, but he has also learned much about the history of the other Norwegian families on Hawaii. In 2000 he published these stories in the booklet “Hawaiian/Norwegian Recollections”.

He says that he started gathering information so that he could tell his own children about their Norwegian heritage. He received extra encouragement to do this when he met two other Norwegian descendants: Anne Simons, living on Kailua-Kona, and Alice Watson Kerns L’Orange, married to Hans Faye L’Orange.
